- Novafil nonabsorbable monofilament surgical sutures are composed of polybutester, a copolymer of butylene terephthalate and polytetramethylene ether glycol
- Elongates elastically under load or tension when wound edema occurs and returns to its' original form when edema recedes
- Suture is not affected by hydrolysis and therefore is less likely to adhere to tissue during re-operative procedures
