Great product

Benecalorie was recommended by a nutritionist for my special needs son. He has food refusal and eats only a pureed food mixture, and a milk mixture which includes adding Benecalorie (for extra calories)as one of the ingredients. It has worked well for him for years but you should get the advice of a nutritionist for the correct amount to use. It is a bit oily but if you use a hand blender it mixes in better. I only use it in a milk mixture so I cannot speak to how it mixes in other foods.

Spouse with Hyperemeisis

My spouse has hyperemeisis and struggles with weight gain. She seems to have a hypersensitive taste and smell. We’ve only tried the product in Jello. You cannot mix the protein into the hot water because the milk proteins clump up. When you cool down the jello solution and then blend it all together it works better, but still has a chalky texture to it.

Disappointing

I had high hopes for Benecalorie to help my 85 year old father with dementia, heart and kidney failure, to take in calories since eating has been such a struggle. This is basically a cup of oil. Elderly with sensitive stomachs may not do well. It does have a thickening effect on foods so is not as easy to mix in as indicated. It works best in yogurt. Other than that I found is created an oily or oddly thick texture to drinks or even applesauce. This is an extremely overpriced product. It has a thick greasy film underneath the foil seal which is separation of the product. This makes it a mess to try to get all of the expensive liquid out of the cup.

Unflavored is wrong

My eating habits have changed to the point where I only eat breakfast in the morning. I have a supplement for lunch and for dinner and this product adds a lot of calories to each of my supplemental meals. That’s why I like it. Don’t get fooled by the statement that it is unflavored. It has a very distinctive and greasy taste on its own. You must mix it with something to hide that bad taste

My elderly mother has been drinking Benecalorie for over 2 years. She is on soft food and liquid diet due to dysphagia, and this product helps with maintaining her delicate weight. It does take some getting used to as the consistency is very oily and takes a lot of spoon stirring. Best when added to her oatmeal.

Terrible quality

Two cases were stored improperly or expired. The bottom was like cement, you literally have to chisel at it. It will not mix with any amount of shaking. We desperately needed this product, but it is unusable.

If more calories are needed

If more calories are needed this is a good solution, but it does have a slightly bitter aftertaste. Adding to applesauce and adding cinnamon helps. Mixed with pudding made with Boost works but still does not totally disguise the bitterness. Would get a 5 star except for the bitter taste.

great way to increase calories without bulk

My son is on a 4800 calorie per day diet due to a health issue. Benecalorie mixed into milkshakes 3 times per day is a great assistance to reach his caloric needs. This allows him to eat 3 typical calorie meals and 3 high calorie snacks. His complaints of GI distress reduced greatly since the shakes digest more easily than a comparable amount of chewable food.

Be careful with using these

Be careful with using these with elderly patients who suffer from constipation issues. As much as we had hoped this would be a great product to incorporate into foods it added to constipation issues. It was great to mix into things like yogurt (beware it does thicken it up), smoothies, and drizzled in some toppings. It's not a bad product unfortunately it just wasn't the right product for us.

The product is 1/3 thick

The product is 1/3 thick liquid and 2/3 thick paste. You can't mix it together - the paste is too thick. I don't see how you can use this for anything. The peel-off lid on each packet says, "Mixes easily into most foods and beverages." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! We ended up throwing it away.

Used with Boost shakes

In recovering from cancer it was recommended to add this to my high-calorie Boost supplements. Be careful opening the tub, it is oily and a pain to clean, but I just stir it up carefully in the tub and add it to my shake: Boost, Banana, Fruit, milk, Ice cream. No noticeable flavor or texture (at least in this mix).

Takes some getting used to

Although this product is unflavored it does change the texture of whatever you mix it in. I tried yogurt, applesauce and a green smoothie, but mashed bananas worked the best for me. I plan to try some savory options like pea puree or mashed potatoes and also a jar of overly processed fruit baby food.

Thank goodness for Benecalorie

I have been using these cups for my special needs son for 12 years. He has feeding/swalllowing/food refusal issues. I make a milk mixture and add Benecalorie for calories/nutrition. It works very well they way I use it. Some say it is greasy and doesn't mix well in certain foods but I have no issues in the milk mixture and carnation inst breakfast etc. It has been a lifesaver for my son-keeps his weight up. He only eats yogurt other than this mixture. I use a blender to mix. I definitely recommend Benecalorie.

Benecalorie

The supplement does have a slight chalk like taste that is mostly hidden by what it is mixed into. Also, it also has a slight thickening affect. Other than that it is easy to mix and dissolves easily and is a quick way to get nutritional calories and protein.

Easy way to add protein

I mix with pudding. Convenient way to add protein as he doesn’t have a good appetite yet. It does thicken a bit. I find it easy to add to his pudding or yogurt. Probably could mix in mashed potatoes. It’s a milky color & tasteless. Will be ordering more.

I struggle with physical and mental health issues that caused me to lose an unhealthy amount of weight and my dietician recommended this, I could not recommend it enough if you’re trying to put on weight as well. Consistency can be an issue for me personally, so I blend it into a smoothie and it’s perfect! Wouldn’t even know there’s an additive in my morning smoothie if I hadn’t put it in myself. It’s a little on the pricey side but absolutely worth it.

Needed calorie boost

We mix this product daily in a milkshake to add needed calories that my son is just not able to take in through eating food. You can’t taste it and it mixes well. We haven’t tried it in other liquids, but the shakes are great. We’re thankful for a product with high calories but small volume.

Great product

I have been using Benecalorie cups to feed my special needs son who has food refusal/GI issues and eats only a thickened liquid mixture and yogurt mixture daily. It was recommnended by a Nutritionist. The Benecalorie is put into the milk mixture, along with other ingredients, and it works well adding calories-keeping his weight up. I use a hand blender to mix it all together. It has been successful for us.

Very concentrated in the bottom edges.

The first box I ordered was not as lumpy as this box. This box of product is harder to mix. Harder to mix equals a poor experience for the user. A poor experience for the user means its harder for me to get the patient/user to ask for/take it.

Lifesavers

Lifesavers My husband has stage four cancer and he has lost 140 pounds and the Benecalorie is really helping him retain his weight we also mix it with Kate Farms P product in his feeding tube. I wish I could get it covered by our insurance but it doesn’t seem to be possible at this time and I don’t get food stamps so the cost is a little pricey but his health is you can’t put a price on it so thank you

Benecalorie is not completely tasteless. It is almost tasteless but has a bland somewhat chalky taste that is overpowered by the taste of most things it is mixed with. It has a tendency to thicken whatever it is mixed with and must be stirred into whatever it is combined with since it settles to the bottom of the container it is packaged in. I suggest eating other food with whatever it is mixed because it is predominately sunflower oil and had a tendency to upset my stomach when just mixed with another fluid such as a shake.

Horrible

According to the product, it can be mixed with hot items. I tried to mix it with hot Panera Tomato Soup and it turned into rubber. It was disgusting! unfortunately, I ordered 24 containers so I will have to use it only with Yogurt, with which it mixes better. what a waste!

Helped me

I had intestinal surgery and lost a lot of wait, I couldn’t get enough calories to gain any weight. My relative told me about benecalorie and have been gaining weight slowly

These were a great find!

Purchased these for my Dad. He had stomach cancer and had to have his entire stomach removed. So he lost a lot of weight and needed high calories in a small serving. These were amazing! They have zero taste so Dad was able to put it in his morning coffee, orange juice and milk. I’m sure he find other things to put them in as well. This is a success!

Benecalorie

I bought this product for my Father who lost a ton of weight due to his illness that he was diagnosed with, bile duct cancer. This product has been working great for him, it's my second time re-ordering more for him and he mentioned that the product taste's great!

Quality Control

I have had problems with this product leaking throughout the box it was packaged in. Some of the cases I’ve received have been very ‘glumpy’ where we had to scrape the solid product out of the bottom. Other cases we could just pour it out, so we know how it should be. It’s very expensive when using 3 containers/day for the quality control to be so poor.

Protein grams very low, calories too low, other ingredients not impress. Chemo patient. Dumb choice on my part, didn’t read carefully enough. Not your fault.

Work in progress

Its not what I thought it would be, expected powder, its an oily liquid. Has a taste and does affect the flavor of food. Still experimenting with adding it to different things. It has a purpose so Ill figure it out, but its worth it.

Product is great especially for senior citizens who need to gain weight!

This product has helped my 94yo mother gain weight (slowly but still gain!) and has no taste. It put it in a shake that she drinks every day and it has really helped a lot with getting more calories into her and not increasing her fluid intake by much at all.

Because there is no flavor it is easy to mix this in with a smoothie milkshake morning coffee (just dont use all of it!) or cream of whatever soups. This was recommended to us by a Registered Nurse to help increase my elderly mothers weight and keep her from losing any more. It has been a God send!

When incredibly sick and barely able to tolerate purée foods/liquids my mother would use this with my father (head and neck cancer survivor), adding it to mashed potatoes, protein shakes, anything he could and was willing to tolerate, to help him maintain his weight. He lost over 90lbs to cancer…but he didn’t lose more…largely in part to this additive!

A bit oily and gritty

A bit oily and gritty but no taste, which is good. Works very well added to my oatmeal! Also works well in smoothies. I don’t know how to respond to “appetite “. As for selection, I don’t know what that means.

Benecalorie

my dad came home from being in the Hospital for 11 days and was very weak , i ordered this for him to help him get extra calories in since he did not have much of an appetiete. It is a great product and you can mix it in pretty much anything. I highly recommend this product

Better

This order was much better than the last. Last stuff must have been old as it was almost cement in the bottom and couldn't shake it mix it up.

Excellent %26 Difficult

This is a great calorie supplement for my wife, who has Alzheimer’s and cannot eat solids for fear of choking. One problem: difficult to solidify before adding to her protein supplement drink.

Excellent Product for Calorie Boost

Benecalorie works great for people who need to add calories to keep from losing weight following illnesses. It mixes well and is tasteless.

I add this to my protein shake. I can not taste a difference and it blends with no problem. I thought it was a powder before I ordered it but it’s any oily liquid. Helps get my calories in for the day.

My friend who is ninety

My friend who is ninety one doesn't have to want to to eat and it isn't easy to find high calorie products that taste good and are easy to consume. I find she has no problem eating this and likes the taste.

Good price to try as very expensive product. Looked and tasted like wallpaper paste when mixed in with mashed potatoes.
